Our Editorial Team
Uric Well is written and edited by a small group of health content editors working on one subject: gout, uric acid, and what adults living with them can reasonably do. None of us holds a clinical qualification. This page sets out who does what, and what that means for what you read.
What we are
We are researchers and writers. Our skill is reading guidelines and trials carefully, noticing when a widely repeated claim traces back to nothing, and explaining the result in language that survives being read at 3am with a swollen toe.
What we are not
We are not physicians, rheumatologists, pharmacists or dietitians. We do not review each other’s work “medically”, because none of us is qualified to do that, and pretending otherwise is one of the most common dishonesties in health publishing. Where an article touches a clinical decision — starting allopurinol, adjusting a dose, interpreting a kidney function result — we describe how the decision is usually made and then send you to someone qualified to make it with you.
How the work is divided
- Research. Locating the guideline or trial that a claim rests on, and reading it rather than the press release. Anything we cannot source, we do not publish.
- Writing. Turning that into an article that answers the question the reader actually asked, in the first hundred words.
- Editing. Checking numbers against sources, removing hedging that hides a clear answer, and removing confidence that the evidence does not support.
- Maintenance. Revisiting published articles when guidance changes, and correcting errors readers report.
Why we publish under an editorial name
Articles are credited to the Uric Well editorial team rather than to an individual byline. We would rather give you an honest collective credit than invent a persona with a stethoscope. What matters for trust here is the sourcing and the willingness to say “we do not know”, both of which you can check on the page.
How we review products
We are an independent site run by a marketer and a small editorial team. Product reviews are based on the vendor’s official information, pricing and policies; we do not claim to have hands-on tested every product, and where we have read a product, the page says so. If a vendor or owner offers us access, we will read it and update the page, saying what we read. Method last updated: 16 October 2026.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, tell us via the contact page. We fix errors, and we would rather hear about one than leave it up.
